YONGL
Born in a small family in Penang island, Tan Yong Lin - Yong started his photography journey with a digital camera purchased by his mother on a 3 years loan.
Yong started self-learning by photographing the paddy fields near to where his grandparents live in Alor Setar, his effort in mastering the craft was paid off when he became the youth winner of Sony World Photography Awards 2015. Yong also obtained his fully sponsored Bachelor’s Degree in Animation & Visual Effects from Multimedia University.
Currently, Yong is based in Cyberjaya building his photography and visual imaging studio, he has worked with various local and international brands such as Ducati Malaysia, Nestle Milo, and Adobe US.
Connecting the Past, Present, and Future
Yong's passion for art and drawing began early at a young age and has stayed with him ever since. He used to draw and paint when he was a little boy. Nowadays he does it with his digital camera and Adobe Photoshop. He usually starts off with the visions and ideas in his mind then sketches them out. After sketching them out, he will proceed to execute the final image.
For Yong, expressing meaningful idea and content is dominantly all that matters at executing a surreal and conceptual imaging work, whilst keeping the technical quality of the piece in mind.
"Practicing good work ethics at such a young age, Yong shares his vision and work process exemplifying the talent of his generation."

Find and do what you love, leave no regrets.
Yong's life mission is to inspire through the beauty of art. He wants people to look at the big picture with hope and reminds them that sometimes a huge achievement starts with something small such as him taking a few photographs at the back alley of his grandparent’s house. He truly believes that the purpose of making art is to bring an idea to life, to deliver a message and invoke feelings.
