Multimedia University AFX Works
mmu.

FCM AFX GEN 7

The process of creating something new has the potential to lead to great things.

During university, I was able to complete many of the smaller assignments with relative ease because I had already built up an extensive portfolio of personal digital artworks that I could adapt for academic submissions. The larger assignments, however, were different. I treated them as personal projects, giving them the same level of commitment, care, and respect as work I genuinely wanted to create, and I always gave them my full effort.

My years at MMU provided far more than an education. The university became a platform where I could access equipment, studio spaces, and collaborate with lecturers, classmates, and friends to bring ambitious ideas to life. Because my studies—from foundation through to my final year—were fully sponsored by the Star Education Fund, I felt a deep responsibility to make the most of every opportunity. Even during semester breaks, I continued creating new work, submitting projects to local and international competitions, and whenever I won, I shared the prize money with the friends who had contributed to the journey.

Looking back, I see university assignments as essential building blocks in my creative development. They were the practice ground before entering the professional world, where I could experiment, fail, refine my ideas, and develop my craft. Skipping that process would have meant missing the opportunity to build a strong creative foundation.

I still remember one lecturer joking that I "had no life" because I had spent so much time on one of her assignments. The project stood out among the submissions and attracted a great deal of attention, but to me, that level of dedication was simply how I approached meaningful work. At the time, I felt misunderstood, yet I remained committed to doing my best regardless of how others perceived it.

A similar moment happened during my final-year project presentation. I argued with one of my lecturers because I wanted just a few more hours to refine the work before the deadline, while he felt I was taking it too seriously. Looking back, I have no regrets. Every extra hour, every personal sacrifice, and every investment I made in those projects became part of the foundation of my skills. They shaped not only my technical abilities but also the mindset and discipline that continue to define me as a craftsman today.
