Stage 1 (2020-2025)
Growing up, there was never a full-length mirror in my home, neither in my room nor in the bathroom... for the whole of my first eighteen years. Without that daily reflection, true self-awareness about my own body just never came to be. My first real sign that my weight had become an issue did not come from seeing it myself but from hearing it from others during the pandemic and lockdown period. It was a slow realisation reinforced by the moment my shirts no longer fit.
It wasn’t until 2021, after moving into a new place, that I got myself an IKEA mirror and put it in my studio. Having that physical mirror to look into every day became an unexpected but important part of the process. Seeing my own reflection regularly as I worked through the weight loss and dieting journey made the progress real and kept me honest with myself.
Start: 90.1 kg (7 May 2022)
End: 71.6 kg (13 May 2023)
1. Total weight lost
90.1 − 71.6 = 18.5 kg
2. Time between the dates
From 7 May 2022 → 7 May 2023 = 365 days
From 7 May → 13 May 2023 = 6 days
Total = 371 days
3. Average weight loss per day
18.5 kg ÷ 371 days ≈ 0.0499 kg per day
≈ 0.05 kg/day
≈ 50 grams/day
I realise that the hardest part about cutting weight is not exercise itself but the self discipline to control what i put into my mouth and stomach on a daily basis, and living in a country where there is so many variety of good food.. it is even harder. Jotting down digitally on a journal helps to keep track of what i eat daily and course correct if neccessary.
The feeling of finally manage to cut down 15+kg feels surreal like i just had a new 'body' haha, and it gives me more motivation to keep it
Stage 1 : 2020 - 2025
Stage 2 (2025-2030)
The hardest part about weight management comes after the cut, to prevent rebouncing back to previous weight i had to keep up the discipline. There are times or phases where i loses it but I still try my best to get back on track.
After moving back from Cyberjaya to Penang, the challenege and difficulty increases as penang is a food heaven lol, for exercising, i also try to keep a balance between using gym equipment and outdoor
with the sudden lifestyle after moving back to Penang from Kualalumpur, location and diet change, i am aware that i have to explore new routine based on the real life location i am in and form a new diet plan.
-trial and error-
-maintaining weight through out the year and prevent rebouncing- -is a win already-
-taking care of mental health & where i focus my attention at carefully-
i havent thought of building muscle properly yet as i understand i dont have the time and financial bandwidth to commit to proper training
so maintaining my weight and a healthy balanced bmi would be my goal for this phase of my life
be aware and overcome my own overeating habit
To be continued
